Tailored blank steel

Tailored blank steel is a steel manufacturing technology.

Tailored blanks welding steel materials of differencing thicknesses. This differential welding process improves the resultant steel's impact safety performance. The use of tailored blanks also reduce the weight of the steel by distributing the actual material used where it is most needed. In 2009, the German company ThyssenKrupp led the world in tailored blank production.[1]
